How many times did you skip your workout because you couldn’t make it to your gym on time?
How many times did you decide to cancel your workout because the weather wasn’t good enough?
While it’s certainly good to commit to one place and time, life is filled with unexpected events and these should not limit our fitness routine.
Break your barriers and reap the benefits!
Release yourself! Set your fitness journey free! Don’t limit yourself to one place and time! Yes, it’s nice to go to a gym you’re comfortable with, at a convenient time and with people you know, but moving around has more benefits than you might think.
By choosing to workout at different places and times, you will first and foremost break out of your comfort zone. This is a good thing as staying in your comfort zone has been proven to limit your opportunities and achievements in life.
Psychologically speaking, when you are in your comfort zone you tend to not push yourself beyond your limits. When you force yourself to escape your comfort zone, you will conquer the first summit of your fitness journey: The Summit of Bravery.
You can conquer the second summit: The Summit of Experience, by working out in different places and at different times. You may wonder what you’re getting yourself into, but the point is simply to put yourself out there and enjoy what follows.
The best part about working out in new places? You meet new people! A great fitness journey is one where you meet new people with different backgrounds, fitness interests, workout methods and goals, and share yours with them.
But let us assume that, for the time being, you’re not able to change your workout location for a legitimate reason. How can you still meet new people and gain opportunities to build new friendships and learn new things?
Change the time!
Do you normally work out in the morning? Change to afternoons or evenings, provided your schedule allows it. Even a change of just two hours in your gym schedule is enough to let you meet new people.
By constantly breaking out of your comfort zone and working out in new places and with different people, you will make it to the third summit: The Summit of Self-confidence. We all know it – nothing is more attractive than a confident person who speaks to strangers without any hesitation. To us that person is fearless.
Different locations! Different times! Different people! Yes! Exposure to new people, workout locations and routines are good for you! You will be fitter, more self-confident and gain new friends and knowledge.
Small changes in your fitness routine can turn you into a better person, all you need to do is to start making them!
