Fate or Free Will

by Nancy Abu Jawdeh

For how long have you blamed your fate for your misery?
For how long have you held your destiny responsible for your failures?
How many times have you settled for less in life and justified your action by telling yourself: “It’s just not meant to be”.
How much time have you already wasted, feeling and believing, that life is happening to you, not for you?

To say the truth, life would have been much easier indeed if you had no control over it; pointless but easier.

When you don’t have the option to be in control, you cannot be responsible for the outcomes of your behaviors. This grants you the role of the “Victim”, always seeking sympathy for your hardships.

Most people tend, unconsciously, to live through honoring this misconception, because it is much more comfortable. It doesn’t require any effort on their part to improve the quality of their life. It is the job of their Fate. They spend their time waiting for luck to change or maybe for their destiny to shift them into the right path.

As days go by, you discover that surrendering your life to fate will eventually lead you to despair.

Living as a victim is totally against your human nature. It will drift you away from your born identity, from who you truly are and who you can be.

God gave you Free Will so that you could make your own choices.

Freedom is not free. It comes with a price. Each choice you make has consequences, and you are the one responsible for these consequences. You reap what you sow.
As hard as this might seem, the rewards are numerous.

Having the Power of Choice will grant you the Power to Change. You will be the Hero of your own story. You won’t settle for less than what you deserve and what you work hard for. You will chase the opportunities instead of waiting for them to reach out to you.

You might be thinking right now: “How can it be? It is impossible to have everything under my control.”

Well, it is true, you cannot decide when your journey starts in this world and it is not up to you to end it. But everything in between is under your control.

However, even though you cannot control what might life bring you along the way, you can always control how you react to that.

Hardships can destroy you as much as they can empower you. It all depends on the way you decide to perceive them.

The moment you choose to start taking responsibility for your actions is when you will be choosing to learn, evolve, grow, and mature.

Life doesn’t happen to you.
Life just happens.

Fate doesn’t control your future.
Your decisions create your future.

All you need to do is to let go of what is beyond your control and take full responsibility for what is under your control.

Whatever and whoever comes your way might be the work of fate, but whatever you decide to do about it is your choice, your Free Will.

Decide mindfully, righteously, and wisely.

Have faith, stay hopeful, break the chains, spread your wings, fly high, take the lead, and above all, own your story.
